IIn September, NYCoo will present an exhibition entitled "The Illustration - Japanese Illustrators' Exhibition in NY."
The aspiration and passion for this exhibition by the 15 exhibiting artists are well expressed in the statement by organizer of the exhibitors, gCre 8h in the next paragraph. By visiting the various websites of the exhibitors listed below, the individual assertions are noted.
In so doing, some common denominators become apparent. A question arises as to whether this common denominator is the current trend within the social-cultural environment in Japan to impose aspects of Japanese pop culture to the world, or if this is something that is brewing within this particular group. Nevertheless, various expressions exist depending on the many layers of circumstances. But how will this be seen in New York? And what anticipation do the participants have in their passion that brought them to New York.
You may begin to form some ideas of your own by visiting to the gallery.
"Japanese Contemporary Illustration Exhibition | Kuriate - brings together 15 capable young illustrators. The core of the group who are active illustrators decided to test themselves by holding a show in New York, a foreign place, where illustration though self expression not possible in Japan may unfold. Other than the specific limitations of the gallery space, the members who vary in age and have different styles mutually encouraged one another to aggressively express their individuality through their illustrations. In this foreign place, the participants are tense in anticipation with how their work will be seen in the eyes of discerning New Yorkers.
We hope that this experience will further our careers by encouraging us to taking more risks to increase our abilities."
