NY Coo Open Art Contest

“An Exhibition of Selected Works”

NY Coo Gallery’s December exhibition, entitled “An Exhibition of Selected Works,” features 32 of nearly 100 works submitted into our second open art contest. They include 2 top-award winning works (IBERICA Award and NY Coo Award) as well as 30 additional works.

Our second open art contest attracted many artists from not only the United States and Japan but also from Europe and South America. With so many artists participating, we were flooded with artworks featuring sunflowers, the official theme for the Sunflower Category.
When given the same creative theme to work with, how would artists expand their ideas to come up with an original artwork? A wide variety of techniques and mediums used by the artists in the exhibition provide the answer − to be diverse. It is such diversity that characterizes today’s artists by providing them with endless artistic possibilities.
The Open Theme Category, vaguely themed around Health, produced artworks that are conceptually deeper and more personal. In these artworks, with their technical diversity, one can see the challenges that today’s artists face to stay creative and original.
The artistic diversity attracts the audience with varying tastes. It keeps art exciting and in constant motion to move forward and reinvent itself.

We are happy to host the special December exhibition honoring every artist who participated in NY Coo Gallery 2007 Open Art Contest. The top award in Sunflower Category, IBERICA Award, with $500 and roundtrip airline ticket to the destination of choice, was crowned to Michael Tyson Murphy of New York City while Mitsuru Tada of Japan was declared as the winner of NY Coo Award, the top award in Open Theme Category. There will be 4 surprise awards to be announced during the opening reception/award ceremony.
