This year marks the fourth consecutive year in which NY Coo Gallery will be proudly hosting gAn Exhibition of Selected Works.h IBERICA USA, INC. in collaboration with ANA (All Nippon Airways) sponsors this very creative contest, which has the themes of gSunflowerh and/or gHealth.h We were honored to have nearly 70 outstanding artworks submitted by artists from all over the world, of which 20 were selected to be part of our exhibition. The finalists for the IBERICA Award and the NY Coo Award were chosen in October and their art pieces and background are summarized below:

The IBERICA Award will be split between two artists this year, gSunflower-Earthh by Miki Nagano and gColor Voice #9h by Yuko Ueda. The NY Coo Award will go to gL' Esploratoreh by Giuliano Giuggioli.
Throughout her career, Miki Nagano has focused on portraying images of air and light through printmaking techniques. This approach is reflected in her competition entries gSunflower-Earthh and gSunflower-Sea.h In these works, Miki expands the gSunflowerh concept to portray the larger realm of nature. Viewing these works, one gets a sense of fresh energy. After earning her MFA degree from Tama Art University in Japan, Miki moved to the U.S. and pursued further studies at Pratt Institute in New York. She currently creates hand-colored art pieces that use a monoprint base. Mikifs artwork is filled with maternal warmth that reminds one of a loving mother making a warm meal for her family.
Yuko Ueda, who happened to graduate from Tama Art University as well, received a degree in design. Starting in 2005, she began abstract painting while studying at the Art Students League of New York. From her memories and ideas and her experience of nature, Yuko gets the inspiration that she expresses in paint on canvas. Her whimsical use of acrylic paints, in addition to metals, cloths, plastics, sand and paper creates artworks in which everything seems to fall into place naturally.
Giuliano Giuggioli, who resides in Italy, was selected for NY Coo Award. He views sunflowers as a metaphor for human beings. His piece not only expresses the togetherness of people and families but also the importance of defining oneself by being courageous. His art combines a lucid attention to detail with a humorous sense that brings peace of mind to those who view it.
Please come to see our exhibition. The artworks portray a wide variety of images inspired by the theme of gSunflowersh and/or gHealthh. The award winners will be honored during the opening reception.
We would also like to thank ANA for their continued support!
