2007 International Senga Exhibition
gIn Preservation of the Beauty of Japanese Landscape: Still Standingh
NY Coo Gallery is proud to present the 2007 International Senga Exhibition series entitled gIn Preservation of the Beauty of Japanese Landscape: Still Standingh
Senga, which has evolved from kirie(traditional Japanese cut-paper craft) is created by cutting rice paper, or washi, with a sharp knife. The combination of sengafs coloring theme, which uses black & white as base tones, and techniques and sensitivities of the traditional Japanese art-craft creates a style distinctively different from other paper arts.
With its delicate blend of intricate lines, curves and colors that produces the over-all simplicity, senga in recent years has been drawing the attention of art world both in Japan and abroad as a new medium of artistic expression.
Ryosuke Ishida, the Chairman of Japan Senga Association says, gWe received kind words for our Montreal exhibition in 2004 and New York exhibition in 2005. I am delighted and proud to return to New York for our third international exhibition. I would love for people of New York to come and enjoy senga and its beauty.h
The exhibition is a part of Japan Senga Exhibition series entitled gIn Preservation of the Beauty of Japanese Landscape: Still Standingh, which includes a special exhibition at the United Nations (2/12/07~2/23/07).
