Kotto Series

Kotta means antiques in Japanese. For years, I’ve been going in and out of stores everywhere in the world that sell old things (antique stores, flea markets at temples and shrines).

Obijime (decorative obi fasteners) designs vary greatly as you can see from the two I found in Japan. Not intended to be used in a necklace, balancing them as an element in a necklace can be challenging. Pendants and beads using ceramic shards provide a sense of history. Other antique beads used here in this series includes lapis lazuli beads with silver caps from Afghanistan and jenna glass beads from Indonesia.
